The Ground Crew, located in in Coeur D Alene, ID., ensures the plant’s exterior and immediate surroundings are safe, organized, and ready for daily operations, directly supporting the efficiency and safety of asphalt production.
Position Overview
The Asphalt Plant Ground Crew is responsible for maintaining the safety, cleanliness, and operational readiness of the plant’s exterior and surrounding areas. This role supports the asphalt plant operator and other staff by ensuring the site is in compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and by keeping equipment and materials accessible for efficient production.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Maintenance: Shovel, clear, and maintain dirt, stone, and asphalt around plant entrances, loading areas, and equipment zones.
- Equipment Support: Assist in moving and positioning plant equipment, including skid steer or watering trucks, for maintenance, repairs, or loading.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all OSHA/MSHA and company safety policies; ensure the work area is hazard-free for operators and other personnel.
- Material Management: Help organize and store materials, ensuring they are accessible and properly stored to prevent damage or contamination.
- Preventative Maintenance: Assist in routine plant maintenance tasks, including cleaning and minor repairs to site structures or equipment.
- Training Support: Help train less-experienced plant staff on proper operations, servicing, and repair procedures.
- Reporting: Report any safety hazards, equipment issues, or material inconsistencies to the supervisor.
Qualifications & Skills
- CDL preferred, but not required.
- Basic knowledge of skid steer or watering truck operation.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong attention to safety and compliance with environmental regulations.
- Physical stamina for manual labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs., shoveling, and operating small machinery.

AAA Concrete, Inc. is hiring for CDL Truck Drivers for our Moses Lake and Spokane, WA area. This position consists of operating an asphalt distributor by applying specialized emulsions to roadways. The operator is responsible for setting the pace for the paving operation.
Key Duties
- Responsible for safe operation of distributor truck equipped with tank for application of asphalt emulsions on road surfaces.
- Monitor flow gauges, tachometer and temperature gauge to ensure uniform distribution of materials.
- Set spray bar on manual, automatic, or semi-automatic distributors for applying liquid asphalt and emulsion. Set and adjust as necessary for proper distribution of product.
- Responsible for loading truck and emulsion tank; connects hoses from storage tank to truck and follows correct procedures to ensure proper loading of asphalt liquid.
- Regulate burner to heat liquid and maintain as necessary for correct operation.
- Ability to understand and execute paving procedures while following instructions to meet the standards of the project.
- Maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment.
- Responsible for daily maintenance of equipment to remain in proper and safe working order.
- Must clean excess asphalt out of tanks and from spray bars.
- Perform daily safety checks of fluid levels on oil, water, fuel and inspections of leaks and damage to machine before operation. Complete daily pre/post trip inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with DOT regulations and company guidelines.
- Responsible for notifying supervisor if equipment needs to be repaired.
- Keep accurate log of deliveries and completes required paperwork for billing.
- Assist paving crew with other tasks as needed when not operating the distributor truck.

- Must be able to stand & walk over uneven surfaces. Maintaining balance without assistance.
- Must be able to climb steps up to 24” in height. May be almost vertical.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate asphalt paver and or screed to apply asphalt per plan and quality specifications as instructed by crew superintendent to ensure daily schedules/estimates are met.
- Screed operation on the asphalt paver involves making normal adjustments for obtaining proper depth, grade, and finished cross section of asphalt material via screed controls.
- Ability to operate, or initiative to learn to operate, other equipment required on an asphalt crew
- May oil, grease, service, and make normal operating adjustments to the equipment
- Ability to operate asphalt paver/screed within designated area with attention to detail and emphasis on craftsmanship
- Ability to guide and direct dump trucks while backing up to machine hopper when operating paver.
- Manipulates hand or foot levers to control movements of machine, spreading and leveling asphalt on subgrade of highway and related surfaces such as parking lots, streets, etc.
- Thorough understanding of all aspects of the paving industry; including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, compaction, and other details related to asphalt paving.
- Also, must perform additional tasks of other positions as needed and instructed by foreman.
Qualification/Requirement:
- One to two years related asphalt and road construction experience preferred
- Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, and dusty environments.
- Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
- Be willing to work overtime, nights, and weekends when necessary.
- Must have a strong work ethic
- Ability to work in a team setting
