Central Washington Asphalt Leaders
Mike Walker
Territory Manager
- Coeur d'Alene, ID
I've spent more than three decades in construction, starting at Central Washington Asphalt in 1991 on paving and chip seal crews. After earning my B.S. in Construction Management from Central Washington University, I led teams delivering deep underground work—engineered shoring, dewatering systems, and complex utility installations—along with major bridge, roadway, and earthwork projects across the region. I returned to CWA in 2010 and now oversee operations across Moses Lake, Northern Idaho, and Colville with a hands-on approach focused on quality, safety, and getting the job done right. Away from work, I'm happiest spending time with my wife and our two children, often somewhere outdoors hunting or fishing.
Tyson Morris
Territory Manager
- Benton City & Tri-Cities, WA
I started with CWA in 1997 at 18 years old, working summers on the paving crew while attending college. After earning my Construction Management degree from Central Washington University and completing my internship in 2001, I began my full-time career with CWA in 2002. I’m committed to leading my team with clear communication, strong support, and a focus on safety. Outside of work, I enjoy staying active, spending time with my family, and keeping up with my longtime passion for soccer.
Freddy Schonewald (Aaron)
Regional & Chip Seal Manager
- Moses Lake, WA
I've spent more than 30 years in construction, starting out as a laborer and equipment operator before moving into superintendent roles. For the past decade, I've focused on estimating and project management, and after 23 years with CWA, I'm proud to lead the Moses Lake Division. Away from work, I enjoy time with my wife of 18 years and our two grown kids, whether it's fishing, boating, hunting, coaching high school basketball, or just being outdoors.
Josh Walker
Division Manager
- Wenatchee & Omak, Colville, WA
For 20 years I've called CWA home, now leading the Wenatchee Division. When I'm not at work, you'll find me watching football, hunting, or spending time with my family.
Justin Crump
Division Manager
- Yakima & Wapato, WA
I’ve been in the construction field since 1991, building experience as a Civil Engineer in the U.S. Air Force, a union equipment operator, and in equipment sales before joining Central Washington Asphalt 7.5 years ago. Today I lead the Yakima Division with a hands-on approach and a drive to get the job done right. On weekends, you’ll find me outdoors with my kids and family—boating, exploring, and making the most of life outside the office.
Darren Bender
Division Manager
- Benton City & Tri-Cities, WA
I began my career in the asphalt industry in 1994 as a laborer and worked my way into management over the years. After 11 years with CWA, I now manage the Tri-Cities Division, where I oversee project scheduling, inventory, and a dedicated team that keeps our work running smoothly.
When I’m off the clock, you’ll usually find me outdoors — camping, exploring, and enjoying the quiet that balances out the busy season. With decades in the industry, I’m proud of the experience I bring and the projects I help lead.
Ron Jones
Division Manager
- Walla Walla, WA & Milton-Freewater, OR
I have over 50 years of experience in construction and paving across the Pacific Northwest and Hawaii. For the past 13 years, I’ve managed operations in the Milton-Freewater area, focusing on clear communication, steady leadership, and strong team support. Earlier in life, I competed at the state and collegiate levels in baseball and was honored to be inducted into the Lewis-Clark State Hall of Fame in 2021.
Jason Perry
General Manager
- Coeur d'Alene, ID
I lead CWA’s Idaho Division, bringing more than 12 years of leadership in designing and building projects—from driveways to major freeway systems across the Northwest. As a North Idaho native, I value quality, integrity, open-minded leadership, and a team-first approach. Outside the office, you’ll find me outdoors hunting, fishing, and off-roading, or relaxing with friends over a cold beer.
Brett Wolfe
Trucking & Resources
Manager
- Moses Lake, WA
I've spent 48 years in transportation and construction management, and 20 of those with Central Washington Asphalt. I stay hands-on—out in the field overseeing truck maintenance and fleet organization, and supporting employee development. In the office, I review purchase contracts, work with vendors, and plan training to keep
our crews and trucks moving safely and efficiently. Off the clock, you'll find me on the golf course, traveling, or behind the wheel of something fast.
Darrin Hess
Plant Operations Manager
- Moses Lake, WA
I've spent the last 25 years in the construction industry, including 14 years at Central Washington Asphalt overseeing the many moving parts of an asphalt hot plant. I'm a hands-on manager who never asks the crew to do anything I wouldn't do myself. Outside of work, I enjoy duck hunting, cheering on my two sons at their ball games, and cooking great meals for my family.
Josh Chapman
Chief Quality Control Manager
- Moses Lake, WA
I've spent nearly 30 years in the HMA industry, starting as a QC Technician and building my career across
California, Oregon, Idaho, and Washington. My experience includes working with HMA, RMC, and aggregate
producers, managing AASHTO-accredited labs, and supporting a wide range of state, municipal, and federal
projects. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and getting outdoors whenever I can. I'm
committed to bringing consistency, quality, and experience to every project I support.
Eric Duffel
Equipment Manager
- Moses Lake, WA
I manage equipment for Central Washington Asphalt, bringing 24 years of experience from equipment dealerships and a practical, hands-on approach. Growing up on a farm in the Palouse taught me a strong work ethic and how machinery keeps crews moving. At CWA, I focus on reliability, safety, and efficiency—keeping our fleet serviced, ready, and on the job. Outside of work, I enjoy time with my wife and our two daughters.
